Is “Weird Al” Dead?

Hit This Tiger Wood (Just Do It) by DJ Timbo

A new style of parody music in Epic Proportions

Hollywood, CA - Is laughter the best medicine? DJ Timbo seems to think so. Known around the country as the Animated LA DJ, Timbo’s new pop song is timed perfectly to put his career over the top, perhaps as the new “Weird Al” Yankovic. “There isn’t any other way to describe my music. My songs are just funny. It’s terrible news for Tiger’s family, but sometimes we just need to laugh it off.”

‘Hit This Tiger Wood’ is a catchy song with a driving dance beat and no doubt the song is sure to have club goers smiling all over the country. It is already getting radio play in New York on the morning shows and Timbo is getting flooded with email requests from fellow DJs for an advanced copy.

There is a fine line between tragedy and comedy but people seem to responding to both. In less than a day, the video hit over 12 thousand views on Youtube and pushed Timbo up to the 26th most viewed musician on the site proving how many people want to express themselves in alternative ways regarding the recent events. With no budget for promotion and a short timeline, his talent shines with witty lyrics reminiscent of the days when “Weird Al” made a song. “I don’t mind the comparison. I like “Weird Al,” but I don’t really parody other people’s music, I just parody people.”

The single will be available for sale on iTunes December 22, but for those who can’t wait, the ringtone is available now. Text “Tiger” to 59925.

Music Maker Takes Serious Tone
DJ Timbo, normally the life of the party, is stepping away from the lampshade

LOS ANGELES -- Tim Scarne is preaching to no one, but he is putting his money where his mouth is and walking the talk. Scarne, whose stage name is DJ Timbo, is dedicating his latest single, “Friendly Addiction: Chasing the A.M.” in memory of his recently deceased peer Adam Goldstein, better known as DJ A.M.

Goldstein was found dead earlier this summer from a drug overdose.

Fifty percent of the singles sales will go towards the National Multiple Sclerosis Society in Adam’s name, and Scarne will hop on the sobriety wagon for 36 weeks as a gesture of respect to the 36 year old Adam. The song is an abstract reflection of his experiences both as a recovering addict and someone who lives in the limelight.

Scarne’s two other singles, “GoGo Girl” and “I’m a F**king Celebrity” are satirical takes on Hollywood life and the absurdity of fame. Both were top 40 hits with “Girl” climbing as high as #10 on Billboard’s Dance Charts. “Friendly Addiction” takes a more serious tone, with pulsing beats and a subtext through abstract lyrics not typically heard in pop music.

“First Michael Jackson, then A.M. It was like a one two punch! Adam was someone that I always looked up to as the barometer to measure my success as a DJ,” says Scarne. “He was on top of the world. The fact that we lost him so young just seems like such a slight to those of us who respected his talent. And to drugs, that’s even worse.”

Scarne is fully aware that suggesting his audience, many of them 24-hour party people, follow his lead may be risky business. Besides, as Scarne used marijuana and experimented with LSD and Ecstasy until his family intervened, he feels that would be calling the pot kettle black.

“I was a teenager still living with my parents at the time,” he recalls. “My mom gave me a choice: I could clean up my act or I was out on the streets!”

It was tough love that sent Scarne into the world of private party DJ’ing where drug use was simply not acceptable if he were to maintain a career. He went onto become one of the most sought out entertainers in Los Angeles and soon nationwide. If you were planning a Bar mitzvah, chances are you knew who DJ Timbo was.

Scarne first started paying attention to DJ A.M.’s career around 2002, when he noticed that he was the DJ for one of Steven Spielberg’s kids Bar mitzvah.

“I thought he was the coolest,” says Scarne. “Nobody will ever know what could have saved Adam, but it's terribly ironic that he was asked to be the spokesperson for a show about interventions.”

“Friendly Addiction: Chasing the A.M.” is now available for download on iTunes.

DJ Timbo For Mayor of Southside

Los Angeles performer celebrates colorblindness and all that that implies

PITTSBURGH – All right, so maybe he doesn’t actually live in Pittsburgh or even Punxsutawney for that matter, but his heart is in the right place. Los Angeles’ favorite son and mix master DJ Timbo storms the South Side this Labor Day weekend in what promises to be a celebration of color.

“There’s absolutely no better place in America, in my opinion, to be on Labor Day weekend than Pittsburgh’s Historic South Side,” says DJ Timbo. “This area represents what can be accomplished when we share a common goal but are oblivious to the color of a person’s skin.”

Just last year, the Dean of Students boycotted a party hosted by Timbo at Scripps College. Deeming it both racist and sexist, Dean Debra Wood didn’t quite understand the concept of an all white party even though class president Isayas Theodros, ironically an African-American, approved all invitations, themes and posters. Students were merely encouraged to wear all white a la Diddy’s East Hampton throw down.

“I have to say, Wood’s reactionary statements kind of stung, but the students got it and that’s what ultimately matters,” says DJ T.

Encouraging fans to wear anything but white to the party at Elixir Ultra Lounge on Friday, September 5, DJ Timbo hopes to unify and inspire his audience. Putting his money where his mouth is, Timbo will award the first ten guests with an autographed CD; all they have to do is approach the DJ and state: I’M COLORBLIND!

“When you’re on the dance floor, you become one,” says Timbo. “No one gives a sh#* what the color of your skin is.”

Spoken like the twenty-first century Renaissance Man that he is, DJ Timbo is also celebrating the release of his hit single “I’m a F**king Celebrity,” a satirical swipe at society’s obsession with all things celebrity. And Hollywood gets it; the controversial DJ was asked to spin at Reese Witherspoon’s birthday party earlier this year.

In spite of his loathing of all things celebrity, DJ Timbo was declared one of Billboard Magazine’s “Unsigned Artists to Watch.”

“The more we can laugh at ourselves, the happier we’ll be,” muses Timbo. “Who doesn’t like to laugh?”

DJ Timbo does, however, hope that the crowd at Elixir will be laughing with him and not at him.

DJ TIMBO RELEASES NEW TRACK
“I’M A F**KING CELEBRITY”
April 17 2009 - For immediate release

Incredible fan response forces Facebook to “disable” account

Hollywood, CA (April 17, 2008) – Hot on the heels of the success of his hit tracks “Go Go Girl” and “The Olsen Twins Song”, celebrity sensation DJ Timbo is back with a dynamic new effort that spotlights his incredible talent as a producer and recording artist. “I’m A F**king Celebrity” was originally due out in May, but due to the overwhelming response from media and fans, the single was bumped up to an earlier release date and is available now on iTunes.

“Celebrity” was inspired by society’s latest obsession with celebrity culture. Similar to Eminem’s new single “We Made You,” “Celebrity” is a commentary of how everyone seems to possess a feeling of self importance and is clamoring for their 15 minutes of fame. “While we obsess over the obscene we desire, we cannot see our future. The illusion of fame is made as we are stalking ourselves!” Timbo says. The song has been getting heavy rotation in clubs and has burning up the internet being hailed as the “it track of the summer.” In fact, the overpowering response in favor of the song forced Facebook to temporarily disable Timbo’s account claiming it was an “independent security” issue.

Even though Timbo's music pokes fun at being a celebrity, he's no stranger to the culture. He was recently spotted by US Magazine DJing for Reese Witherspoon's 33rd birthday party. He has been seen spinning at A-List celebrity events and most recently appearing in the Funny or Die video “Zac Efron’s Pool Party” with Queen Latifah, Nicole Richie, Joel Madden and Carmen Electra among others.

Hailed by Billboard as an “Unsigned Artist to Watch” for 2009, DJ Timbo has quickly positioned himself as Hollywood’s hottest DJ. His first single, “Go Go Girl,” hit No. 10 on Billboard’s Hot Dance Club Play chart and became the dance anthem of the summer. His follow up single “The Olsen Twins Song” generated a lot of buzz as the video became a huge internet sensation and depicted an animated version of a wild night out with Timbo and the Olsen twins.

GoGo Girl Tour Press Release
June 2008 - For immediate release

America's Private Party DJ Goes Public

Hey America! -- As if the summer temperatures weren't hot enough already, the volcanic energy of Los Angeles-based DJ Timbo -- party host and master of the mix -- is coming to a town near you. The Go Go Girl Tour was put into motion earlier this month and continues to pick up steam as the rolling celebration crisscrosses the country. Known for his frenetic personality and incredible charm, DJ Timbo (mild-mannered Tim Scarne by day) hopes that his tour can help club-goers forget their troubles for a few hours and just have some pure, unadulterated fun.

"I'm not going to call myself a humanitarian or anything," laughs the 30-year-old writer, director, producer and sometimes actor. "But it seems like every time I turn on the television there is something else to get you depressed. Our show is all about life and how to love it."

The tour kicked off in Denver and ends in Los Angeles, but not before heading as far east as New York. The tour is also being filmed for a documentary and is named after Scarne's single dance hit "Go Go GIrl" as well as after the femme fatales that often join him on stage. In addition to the movie, Scarne is keeping a blog on his website, www.djtimbo.com, recording the trials and tribulations of life on the road.

Scarne has been spinning and composing since his was 13 and incorporated himself at the wise old age of 19. He is not, however, neither jaded nor ungrateful.

"I get to lead my life bringing joy to others through music, film dance," he says. "I mean, c'mon; how lucky is that?"

Biography

Being hailed by Billboard as “An Unsigned Artist to Watch,” DJ Timbo is quickly rising through the ranks as the new “It” DJ and is poised to take the world by storm!

Last year, DJ Timbo released his first single “Go Go Girl” which hit No. 10 on Billboard’s Hot Dance Club Play chart and became the dance anthem of the summer. His follow up single “The Olsen Twins Song” generated a lot of buzz as it became a huge internet sensation.

DJ Timbo grew up on the turntables. At the young age of 13, he spent his life savings on his own set of Technics, and soon after he was break dancing and working the decks at family parties. By the time he was 19, Timbo formed Enterprise Entertainment Inc., a production company that has produced, music, films, and over 2000 private parties.

Always touted as the class clown, Timbo went to college in California and quickly realized that his life went beyond his course curriculum and dropped out in order to pursue his passion as a DJ. He also pursued acting simultaneously. He has appeared in national commercials, performed
in live comedy stage shows and at age 26, produced his own musical, Second Wind, which ran for six months in Los Angeles . He wrote, produced and starred in the 2004 semi-autobiographic film LADJ, which hit the festival circuit in 2004. After auditioning to be a DJ for a Pepsi campaign, Timbo realized his calling will forever be as a DJ and to engage the crowds on the dance floor. Since then, Timbo has been in the event and club scene across the nation and has been booked solid since 1994.

Timbo has also toured internationally as a DJ. His music knowledge is unmatched and his ability to read any crowd and mix music styles on the fly keeps his audiences in suspense weekend after weekend. Timbo brings a high-energy approach, eliciting audience reactions, and only works
with people who demand the absolute best. Timbo transforms the mundane into the extraordinary. Timbo has made personal appearances at the biggest and best nightclubs in America. Recently he directed music videos for DJ Dan, Tall Paul and Dave Aude´.

Busy in the recording studio, his debut album currently titled “Timbotronic” is due out later this year. Debut single GoGo Girl releases in June of 2008. His energy and personality are infectious. To see DJ Timbo live is not just a performance, it’s an experience!!!
